Before you sign, check the record.

Every renovation firm on defects.sg earns a public grade for one thing: whether the defects on their projects actually get fixed. Search a name or UEN.

No account needed to search. No firm can buy its grade.

The method

What the grade is.

Three letters, A to E, computed from what the renovator submitted themselves: their photos, their dates, their acknowledgements.

Not what anyone thought of them. What they did.

It’s weighted by how serious each defect is, so a leak counts for more than a paint mark. It is three letters from the last ten projects: the typical project, the average and the most common letter. A firm that is excellent every time is AAA; one or two soured jobs pull only the average, so ABA, and a pattern shows in all three. No letter appears until a firm has three completed projects, and the raw numbers sit beside it always.

A typical firm gets a B.

The limits

What it isn’t.

Not a review, and not a score anyone gave. It says nothing about taste, price, or whether you’ll like working with them, only whether the defects at the end of a project got closed, and how long that took.

There’s no list of top firms here and no way onto one, because there’s nothing to buy. Type a name.

Where we are

The registry is new.

Most renovators aren’t listed yet. If yours isn’t, you’ll see that said plainly rather than a blank page, and you can ask them to join, which tells them a client checked. We’ll email you if they do.

A firm being absent means nothing about them. It means we haven’t got there yet.

Either way

Start your own list.

Whoever you sign with, the defect list at the end of the job is yours to keep. Log it with a photo, send it once, and get a photo back for every fix.

Check a name, then start your list.

Searching is free and needs no account. An account is free too.
